I had an idea for a very simple painting, and it came together very easily. I stained the background sap green, and then painted a layer of lemon yellow over that. I liked how the stretcher bars showed through so I worked at bringing them up. The simple row of circles were set down roughly in the centre of the canvas by tracing the lid of a jar. Today I like it, but we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Mark Rothko meets Damian Hurst………?
That’s an interesting combination.
I like this a lot – it’s almost either that these circles are balancing on top of each other, ready to fall, or we’re looking down from above..and the green is beautiful..like it!
Rather lovely…I like the support being accentuated like that.
