A Wednesday List of Ten Things I Like.

Orwell Corner.

Orwell Corner.

This is not a top ten list, but rather a totally random list of things I like. listed in alphabetical order of course, and complete with links where possible.

1. Blackberries. It is berry season, and though blackberries usually are ripe in September I will list them today. I love blackberries and I have the scars to show from picking them. It’s a good thing they are ripe later in the season because I have to wear heavy clothes for protection from their thorns.

2. Blueberries. I like blueberries, but I don’t love them. I prefer them baked in muffins or cakes, or blended into smoothies.

3. Confederation Trail. After the last trains ran on Prince Edward Island there was much argument about what to do with the abandoned rail lines. Oddly the right decision was made and the lines were turned into a wonderful hiking and biking trail. Sadly you are not allowed to ski on them in the winter when they are given over to suicidal snow mobilers.

4. Raspberries. Our backyard is being taken over by our raspberry bushes. In a few days I will find the house quiet as the children sit in the bushes and eat themselves sick.

5. Strawberries. We will probably go strawberry picking in the next few days. Once again the children will eat berries until they are sick. Berry picking seems to be a strange system of a berry for the pail, a berry for me.

6. Stanfield’s underwear. Buy Canadian! I have yet to learn to not buy all my underwear at one time. I should space it out over the year. Unfortunately, I have not learned to do this which is why I always have catastrophic underwear waist band failure in every pair I own all at once.

7. Sunrise. I like being asleep when the sun comes up. But if I’m awake at sunrise I like to see the sun coming over the horizon… it means it’s not cloudy.

8. Sunset. I enjoy sunset because it means soon the kids will be asleep, and we can relax.

9. New potatoes. After a long winter there is nothing better than new potatoes. They are like candy.

10. P.E.I. Mussels. One of our favorite things is a big pot of steamed mussels. We eat all we can and then the rest goes into a chowder.
