Long Series #1050.

Every now and then I do something that is very like what I often do, and yet completely different. This painting has my marks, patterns, colours, and compositional ticks, and yet it seems very unlike me. The sensation it causes for me is as if I’ve come across the work of another artist, and I see that we have something esthetically in common, and I like the work. This is my painting, but it feels as if it has fallen out of line… a strange feeling.

I’m slowly working on my work station for my Long Series, and I’m painting the desk top black. The chair part of the desk will be red, but I’m thinking I’ll darken it up a bit. Or not…

This Long Series painting is assembled from several sources. The base is artist quality paper, but it also has paper from a graphic novel, and a book about aircraft. It has a nice assortment of my marks and spills. When I was working on it I felt it wasn’t going to be a painting I liked, but after a few days I’ve come to like it. It has grown on me.
