My 5 year old daughter spent most of yesterday planning the April Fools Day jokes she was going to play on me. The big one she planned was to take all the work off my work desk and replace them with a selection of her own paintings. She told me to go to the studio and when we did she complemented me on “my work.” Apparently she has several more in store for me…

I often refer to my Long Series as paintings or collages, but I also call them drawings. Drawings with paint, ink, pencils, crayon, and other material. I have many types of line, dot, dashes, scribbles, interlocking lines of pattern, and long thin wandering lines. If anything, it is the line that I’ve always liked, and as beautiful as areas of colour are, a line is the highlight.
