April 18, 2012.

This is something that is in my studio and has become strangely valuable to me. It’s a list of all the books I’ve read since I started keeping the list in 1999. There are art histories, and art related books of course, and there are the classics such as War And Peace, Crime And Punishment, Lord Of The Flies, and Catcher In The Rye. There’s also all of Patrick O’Brian, Ian Rankin, Terry Pratchett, and J K Rowling, and many other works of history and fiction. I would be hard pressed to say what is my favourite book in the list. I would have to say Simon Schama is wonderful, as are Patrick O’Brian, Terry Pratchett, also I’m oddly addicted to the work of Matthew Collings.

Anyone have any interesting reading suggestions?

A Postcard From England.

You've Got Mail!

You've Got Mail!

Yesterday I went to my mailbox and found a envelope that wasn’t a bill or a piece of junk mail. It was something I knew was coming, but I was still excited to find a piece of personal mail addressed to me from the blogger Andy Parkinson of Patternsthatconnect.

A few weeks ago we decided to exchange postcards. We’ve been following each others blogs for a couple of years now, and I was very happy to take part in this project. The card is a great, and beautiful new addition to my art collection, and I’m planning on framing it up and displaying it in my studio.

A Wednesday Idea Crazy Or Otherwise.

Long Series Stack.

Long Series Stack.

I find that as I work I’m always coming up with ideas for art projects, and while some are good some are a bit crazy. So my idea this week is really simple because spring has arrived and I’m enjoying the simple pleasures of being outside, and so I’m behind on a couple of my own ideas.

Make 10 to 20 paper airplanes and hang them in a tree or trees, and leave them there in the hope that someone will find them. Photograph the event if you can. If you wish to do the idea let me know how it went.
