Pop Art was fun, and another way to look at the world.
Because Roy Lichtenstein was the uncle of a friend of mine, I’ve been able to look at a large collection of his very early work (late 40’s and early 50’s). Before he was doing his Pop Art thing. I much prefer his early work!
Will people say that about you when you are famous?
Dada I think. Not so much for what they produced, but because I think they took the first cracks that the impressionists made in the rigid realism that came before, and blew it wide open for everything that followed in the 20th century and today. If ever there was really a “revolution” in art, I think dada was it.
Just my likely incompletely informed opinions. I’m no art historian. 🙂
Yup, Dada for sure … . Not sure it’s considered a ‘movement’ per se (in art history/critical circles), but I also am really captivated by the land art coming from UK artists (Richard Long, Andy Goldsworthy). Very different types of work I know, but both pull at my brain in really interesting ways.
