Have you met…Sharon Butler?

Introductions can be wonderful things. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends through an introduction. Sometimes you can be introduced to your new favorite food, television show, or artist. I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. The artist I’d like to introduce is the painter Sharon Butler.

Sharon Butler is represented by Pocket Utopia (New York, NY) where her solo exhibition, “Precisionist Casual,”  was on view through February 17, 2013. Since 2009, she has exhibited at SEASON (Seattle, WA), John Davis Gallery (Hudson, NY), STOREFRONT (Brooklyn, NY), and Real Art Ways (Hartford, CT).

In addition to painting, Butler publishes the influential art blog Two Coats of Paint, and has contributed to Art21, Hyperallergic, The Huffington Post, andThe Brooklyn Rail. She has served as a visiting artist/critic or lecturer at numerous schools, including Brown University, Purchase College, Hoffberger School of Painting at MICA, The School of Visual Arts, Hunter College, Parsons The New School, Cornish College of the Arts, University of Connecticut, American University, and Brooklyn College. From 2000-12, Butler taught at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she achieved both tenure and the rank of full Professor. She divides her time between New York City and southeastern Connecticut.
