Friday evening studio photograph.

I’m feeling the itch to get back to work on this rack of paintings. I haven’t touched them since November, and now that the weather is warmer I want to throw open the windows and get the oil paints out.

Have you met…Ravenna Taylor?

Introductions can be wonderful things. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends through an introduction. Sometimes you can be introduced to your new favorite food, television show, or artist. I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists.

The artist I’d like to introduce is the painter Ravenna Taylor.

“I’d say I’ve gotten away with some mischief; I’ve pursued an extraordinary existence in the face of ordinary obstacles. I work in abstractions, with collages made of my own destroyed work on paper, and oil paints on canvas or linen, and wood. I have a passion for classical song and choral music, and perform at regular intervals in Princeton, New Jersey. Walking through empty art galleries, singing, is one of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoy poetry, photography, knitting, and wandering flea markets, talking to strangers. I am not the person of the same name who is a realtor in the Trenton, NJ/Philadelphia area; in fact, I’m not “based” midway between the NYC/Philadelphia metro areas, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey; I live here.” RT

“Here is a photo of my studio wall, with some of the new work and some I brought out of storage alongside it, as I was contemplating my selections last February. I was very happy to give some works in storage another chance to be seen and put in some new context.” RT
