Have you met…Yifat Gat?
An introduction can be a wonderful thing. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends. You can be introduced to your new favorite foods, books, music, or artist.
I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. Some of whom I’ve been familiar with for years, and other I’ve only recently been introduced to.
The artist I’d like to introduce is the painter Yifat Gat who was recommended to me by the painters Karl Bielik, and Justine Frischmann.
Yifat Gat (Born 1969 Tel-Aviv) is a painter living in the south of France. Her studio work focuses on abstract handmade geometry drawn/painted on paper or canvas. Yifat also develops a line of site-specific wall works derived from her studio practice. Her work has been shown in Tel Aviv, Sweden, France and New York. Yifat is married to Emanuel, and together they homeschool their five kids.
“I find myself bridging between the contemporary context and the most basic form of hand made images – drawing. The power of drawing, through its constant relevancy as a form of human expression is at the center of my work. form, structue and mechanisms are my tools of research in a well defined yet intuitive process. The work manifests itself in two distinct yet profoundly interrelated ways: studio work and site specifics.”
