Have you met…Tara Fitzsimons?

An introduction can be a wonderful thing. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends. You can be introduced to your new favorite foods, books, music, or artist.

I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. Some of whom I’ve been familiar with for years, and other I’ve only recently been introduced to.

The artist I’d like to introduce is the painter Tara Fitzsimons.

“Tara Fitzsimons is an emerging artist from Belfast in Northern Ireland. Her practice looks at the domestic space exploring the past, memories and still life. Tara’s paintings incorporate line drawing, negative space, oil painting, abstraction and developing many layers in her work, thus, creating a history in the layers of the paintings themselves. Tara creates her own iconography from original photography of chaotic domestic spaces, through the use of repetitive drawings. It’s these drawings that take life in her paintings through the use of colour theory, and combining the many elements of her practice. Even though Tara’s work is developed with scrutiny she never gets precious, leaving brush strokes and underlying colours peeking through the edges which creates an unfinished quality that reflects repressed memories which are in your mind but not quite clear. The narrative of the paintings form a dialogue between space, time and absent human presence.Tara graduated from the University of Ulster 2011 with a First Class honours degree in Fine Arts. She has gained many clients in the U.K, Ireland and Europe.Tara practice has also been supported by the Arts Council Northern Ireland.”166742_109533519240659_565753851_n
