I’ve always enjoyed being introduced to new and interesting artists, and as I’ve been doing this series many wonderful people have been sharing their information with me. Everyday I keep coming across interesting, challenging, beautiful, and powerful works of art. I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. Some of whom I’ve been familiar with for years, and others I’ve only recently been introduced to.
Jeanne Heifetz lives in Brooklyn, New York.
“Each piece in this series captures, as on a microscope’s slide, a fleeting configuration of these unstable forms. We are hard-wired to seek out visual pattern, yet patterns that are easy to discern do not hold our attention. When confronted by images that refuse to resolve into a predictable arrangement, our neural pathways remain excited, questioning, alive. The images challenge our unconscious mind to perceive – or, as Nicolet might argue, to recognize — their underlying architecture.” JH
“The very act of searching poses another question: do we find order in the universe or impose our expectations of order upon it? Scientists are now discovering that even at the cellular level, randomness plays a large, perhaps even dominant role. Does this visual amalgam of randomness and order remind us of something we have long understood about the natural world, even if we don’t yet know that we know it?” JH
