An introduction can be a wonderful thing. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends. You can be introduced to your new favorite foods, books, music, or artist.

I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. Some of whom I’ve been familiar with for years, and others I’ve only recently been introduced to.

The person I’d like to introduce is the artist Joyce Conlon.

“My paintings are built upon a dichotomy of that which is seen and that which is concealed. Composed in layers, the paintings are slowly simmered like a rich gumbo. Each finished painting is comprised of several compositional relics that when superimposed, interact to take a form that looks little like it’s previous incarnations. At any given moment, I may be walking, looking at one thing, and thinking about another. As Cezanne painted the edges of his apples to suggest the flux of perception, I am interested in capturing the rich complexity of a visual moment.” JC
