Online Resources for artists.

I’ve decided to compile a list of online resources for visual artists. I will build the list as I discover interesting sites and materials that announce open calls for exhibitions, grants, or other material that will help professional artists.

CANADA is a Toronto-based company that promotes contemporary visual art, video, new media and film locally, nationally and internationally via the internet. Established in November 1999, Akimbo has built a large and dedicated subscriber and reader base of Canadian and international visual arts professionals along with a client base of hundreds of the country’s most important galleries, museums, art institutions, and media, film and video festivals. The Canada Council offers a broad range of grants and services to professional Canadian artists and arts organizations in music, theatre, writing and publishing, visual arts, dance, media arts, and integrated and circus arts – fostering and promoting the arts in Canada since 1957. CARCC stands for Canadian Artists Representation Copyright Collective Inc. Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) is incorporated federally as a non-profit corporation that is the national voice of Canada’s professional visual artists. The Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts.  this town is small is an artist-run non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness and understanding of contemporary art forms. Serving as a vehicle for communication among artists and between artists and the community this town is small encourages collaboration between all art forms to strengthen the position of contemporary art in P.E.I. and the Atlantic region.

United Kingdom We provide a comprehensive summary of opportunities for UK artists including fine art open exhibitions, competitions, awards, opportunities, prizes and bursaries. An my annual post about Major Art Competitions in the UK. Los Angeles Art Resource Los Angeles Art Resource was created in May 2011 by Aili Schmeltz and Danielle McCullough, two visual artists based in Los Angeles, who aim to create a forum for the exchange and sharing of arts resources. We aim to empower artists at critical points in their creative endeavors while providing a vehicle for the Los Angeles artistic community to help one another succeed. NURTUREart Non-Profit Inc. is dedicated to nurturing new contemporary art by providing exhibition opportunities and resources for emerging artists, curators and public school students. New York Foundation for the Arts is an independent organization to serve individual artists throughout the state, the mission of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is to empower emerging artists and arts organizations across all disciplines at critical stages in their creative lives and professional/organizational development

Public Art Archive The Public Art Archive™ is a free, online resource for comprehensive data and rich media, employing a standardized framework to catalog public art. Residency Unlimited (RU) supports the creation, presentation and dissemination of contemporary art through its unique residency program and year-round public programs. We forge strategic partnerships with collaborating institutions to offer customized residencies designed to meet the individual needs of participating artists and curators. Trestle’s primary aim is to foster creativity by expanding opportunities and providing exposure for contemporary artists and curators.

UCIRA  The University of California Institute for Research in the Arts is a statewide program dedicated to supporting and promoting arts practice and research across the University of California system. Through our grants program we offer support for individual and collaborative projects in all disciplines.

WORLD WIDE Art-agenda announcements provide detailed information about exhibitions and projects at many of the leading commercial art galleries, art fairs, and magazines from around the globe. ARTE FUSE covers the best contemporary art from all over the world with our main focus being New York. We go to as many shows as possible to give you a curated perspective on the art scene. ARTSLANT,  a contemporary art network, has comprehensive calendars for openings, exhibits and events, a worldwide community of professional artists, and local city editions for the art lover. ART RELATED AWARDS, PRIZES, COMPETITIONS, EXHIBITIONS, FESTIVALS, PARTICIPATIONS, ENTRIES, SUBMISSIONS, WHICH DO NOT REQUIRE A FEE FROM YOU IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE !! Call for Curators specialises in spreading open calls from cultural organisations that need to reach curators and art managers. As we concentrate on this target audience, our communication is much more efficient. Call for Curators announces job opportunities, grants, exhibition proposals, residencies, awards as well as symposia, seminars or curatorial studies programs. e-artnow is an electronic information service distributing selected e-mail announcements related to contemporary visual arts.

The posted package itself is the work of art and, unlike a traditional letter or parcel, it is intended to be received and admired for it’s own sake. Node Center for Curatorial Studies Berlin is a platform to teach, research, and experiment with subjects related to curatorial studies and contemporary art practices, acting as a networking point that draws together curators, artists, and creative professionals in Berlin.

Open Kurator openKURATOR is an open submission and presentation platform developed by KURATOR. It allows for projects to be submitted in response to particular calls. All projects are stored in the repository. Selections are made by invited curators. The Project Relay encourages creative development by inspiring artists to pursue their visions through the awareness of resources and opportunities provided on the website, TransArtists is the platform stimulating and strengthening artists’ mobility in the Netherlands and internationally. It combines and shares expertise and offers tools and services on artist-in-residence programs and related issues. Where artists find open calls.
