International Art Trade.

I’ve been receiving a lot of great things in the mail recently, and I really enjoy getting mail that isn’t a bill or junk mail.

A couple of weeks ago I arranged a trade with fellow artist and blogger Alyson Khan. We looked through images on each others blogs and found something we liked and traded paintings. I had a very hard job making up my mind because Alyson has so many great works so it took me a few days to decide what I wanted. So I was very happy to check my mail and find a package, and though I knew what was in it I was very excited to rip the paper off and see the painting. It’s wonderful, and I now have a cool, beautiful piece of art for my collection. When I look at it I can’t help being reminded of cool jazz from the 50’s and early 60’s. It sings!

I was wondering what would be the best way to describe this painting, and what comes to mind is the word festival. There is an atmosphere of the carnival or sideshow to this painting, it in some ways reminds me of a circus tent. Whatever it is I like it’s energy.

"I saw Secret Arrangements..."

A few days ago I asked people to help me name this painting, and the method I chose was to ask people to pick up the book nearest to them, and turn to page 52, and read the first line of the second paragraph. I was surprised how great some of the results were, and I think I’ll use this method again.

The title I chose came from fellow blogger destructivetestin. I liked this line the best because I’m a huge Leonard Cohen fan, and few people can write a line like Mr Cohen.

Almost Done? What Do You Think?

I’ve been working on this painting this week and I’ve set it aside to think about it a bit. The question I’ve been asking myself is, “is the painting done?” Please answer my poll to help me decide.
