A Wednesday Idea Crazy Or Otherwise.

I find that as I work I’m always coming up with ideas for art projects, and while some are good some are a bit crazy. So my idea this week is…

Make 2 signs in the shape of arrows from a durable material such as wood, metal, or heavy cardboard. Paint them a bright eye catching colour, and on them write the words Next Arrow. Place them pointing at one another in a place where passers by will be likely to see them.

I had been doing a Wednesday List Of Ten Things I Like, but I began to feel it was getting stale, and I was running out of things I liked. I find that as I work I’m always coming up with ideas for art projects, and while some are good some are a bit crazy. So my idea this week is…

My idea is simple. On a 3×4 inch piece of paper draw the word draw.  Then go to a library or used bookstore and place your drawing in a dictionary by the definition of the word draw, and leave it for someone to find.

The rules are simple.

1. Draw the word draw. Don’t write it. Draw it. Whatever that means.

Branch Project.

I thought it would be a nice idea to take a walk after dinner and place my branches in a tree. I forgot that it was cold and windy, and so it was a chilly short walk. I placed them in a small birch tree along the trail, and I like the combination of the white birch tree and the coloured branches. I think I’ll do this again. Especially since all sorts of interesting branches are revealing themselves as the snow melts.

So my new idea for Wednesday is A Wednesday Idea. Crazy Or Otherwise.

My idea this week has to do with the end of winter. Everywhere I go I see branches of trees scattered across the ground. In a few weeks we will begin the inevitable, but enjoyable task of spring clean up. My idea is to start getting ready for spring by taking a fallen branch and painting it a bright cheerful colour ( I’m going to paint mine yellow). After the branch is painted I will attach it to a tree so that it appears to be part of the tree.

The rules are simple.

1. Paint a fallen tree branch a bright colour.

2. Attach it to a tree so that it looks like it is still part of the tree.

3. Record the process of painting, and placing the branch.

4. Post it on your blog, and let me know how it went.

A Wednesday Idea.

A Wednesday Idea.

I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I’ve been doing a Wednesday List Of Ten Things I Like, but I feel it’s been getting a bit stale, and I’m running out of things I like. So my new idea for Wednesday is A Wednesday Idea. Crazy Or Otherwise. So here goes!

My idea is a bit crazy, and it’s been done. The artist Andre Cadere is the inspiration. My idea is that I will take a piece of wood 1-metre long, and turn it into an artwork. Paint it, carve it, cut it, wrap it, whatever I wish to do, and make it into something that could be considered art. After I create the piece of art I’ll take it for a walk and leave it somewhere it can be found. I’ll record the event and post it on my blog. There are some rules I have set for myself.

1. I will start with a piece of wood 1-metre long, and make it into art.

2. I will record the process of making it into art.

3. I will take it for a walk and leave it so it might be found.

4. I will post images of the artwork, the walk, and where it’s left.

5. I will hope someone finds it and realizes it’s art and takes it home.
