An introduction can be a wonderful thing. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends. You can be introduced to your new favorite foods, books, music, or artist.
I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. Some of whom I’ve been familiar with for years, and other I’ve only recently been introduced to.
The artist I’d like to introduce is the painter Hans Wendt.

Hans Wendt was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and grew up in Prince Edward Island. Although he studied privately, and spent one year at OCA, Wendt is mostly self-taught. He has also worked in a ceramics studio, as a finish carpenter, cabinetmaker, and boat builder. Before his permanent move to Millvale, P.E.I. in 2005 he lived in Toronto, Los Angeles, and Washington, where he was known as a co-producer of multimedia performances and designer of sets, Brueghelesque murals, and staged events. Although he has worked in many mediums over the years, for more than a decade Wendt has been painting almost exclusively with watercolours. He has exhibited mostly in Prince Edward Island (including a solo exhibition at the Confederation Centre Art Gallery, curated by Lee Plested, in 2009), but has also shown in Port Townsend, Washington, and North Adams, Massachusetts (Oh, Canada, Mass. MoCA, 2012-13). His is represented by The Apartment (theapt.ca) in Vancouver, where he has an upcoming solo exhibition in January 2014.
