Have you met…Peter Shear?

An introduction can be a wonderful thing. You can meet interesting people, and make new friends. You can be introduced to your new favorite foods, books, music, or artist.

I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite artists. Some of whom I’ve been familiar with for years, and other I’ve only recently been introduced to.

The artist I’d like to introduce is the painter Peter Shear, who was recommended to me by Justine Frischmann, and David T Miller.

“What really sends me is artwork containing a spaciousness of address, which allows for my looking to become consuming and urgent. In these moments the relationship between object and audience can be truly generative, a partnership. The gulf of meaning present in an artwork separating artist from viewer is pretty mysterious and it feels good operating near that place.

As I work compositions arrive and depart mostly in spite of my involvement and best intentions. Rules have been made to follow or not. Paintings sometimes take minutes and sometimes weeks and months of activity, ending somewhere unavoidable, images suspended in becoming; an environment for the viewer to develop a framework through which to see whatever she likes.” PS
